Just Another Sunday Afternoon at the Piazza Navona

Image & Text © 1995-98 by Jay J. Pulli

Peggy Marshall and Merrily Pierce hang out with the Eyetais for lunch at the Piazza Navona in Rome, one of the all time great hangouts of the world. On a Sunday afternoon, the Roman girls pose for their boyfriends in front of the Bernini fountains, or just sit and relax while photographers like me stalk them unobtrusively for pictures. And about every hour, a newly wed couple shows up to have their picture taken. If you're a photographer, bring plenty of film; I burned my last three rolls of the trip there and wished I had at least two more.

Photo info: Shot with a Leica M6 and 35 mm f2 Summicron lens on Fuji Provia 100, under the shade of the restaurant umbrella. Transfered to Kodak PhotoCD, opened in Adobe Photoshop 5, Unsharp Mask filter applied, then pasted onto a slightly larger image space, and Drop Shadow layer effect applied. Saved as a Photoshop 5 file, then opened in Adobe ImageReady 1.0 and optimized to jpeg for the web.
